VEGETARIAN: Old Indian word for bad hunter

:)

2 Comments:

HMMMM.... well I suppose the grapes are sour theory huh???

Just cause you can't live without your meat... you make all the vegetarians bad hunters! NICEEE.. I love the logic hahha...

Another one for Vegeterian. Not coz of the 'love' for animals but coz of the 'hatred' towards plants.

wow.. traffic

Boingboing.net, the very popular "Directory of Wonderful Things", posted a link to one of my posts.

(This is the link to the boingboing.net page).

Well..its nice being linked to from BoingBoing.. but what I was unprepared for was the barrage of traffic to my site as a result of that link. Here's my stats for visitors and page loads for the past 30 days...

As you can see, this site gets about a couple of hundred page loads on average per day, and similar number of visitors...kinda. But 2 days ago that spiked to over 4000 page loads and unique visitors.

that was some heavy load on my pore old home brewed server!!

Moral of the story.. if youre getting linked to from a popular page, be prepared for the rush.

Finally a sensible bit of news....

From The Guardian...

Judge rules against 'intelligent design'

Tuesday December 20, 2005

A US federal judge today ruled that "intelligent design" - the belief that a higher power, rather than evolution, created life - cannot be mentioned in biology classes in a Pennsylvania school district.

The Dover area school board violated the constitution when it ordered that its biology curriculum must include intelligent design (ID), district judge John Jones said.

The policy, adopted in October 2004, is believed to have been the first of its kind in the country.

Some more articles:

BBC
NYT

If this ruling had turned out otherwise, I think it'd have been sadder than Dubya winning his second term.

Now is the time to say : "I told you so!!"

Thank God for the ruling ... ;)
(yes, it is meant to be ironic, you morons).

gmail on your cellphone...

If you have a cellphone with WAP and SSL and XHTML..
and if you are a gmail user..
then...

you can now do your gmailing from your cellphone!! uber-cool..

point your phone browser to http://m.gmail.com and there's an ultra slick, keyed down version of your gmail on your phone. And what's more, even image attachments are nicely scaled down and visible.

This had been on my wishlist for quite a while now.. Yahoo Mail has been available online for quite a while, but it ain't as slick, and I use gmail nowadays more often.. work/play etc.
Hmmmm... this means work can follow me everywhere!! damn.. I thought this was a good thing!

Anyway folken.. try it out.. and work on getting a good data plan from your provider! :)

I took this picture today, and then realised that it looked awfully similar to the one 2 posts ago.. So am posting it. :)

This is how much snow we got yesterday... that was 12" at least!!

-- recent movies
"Good Night and Good Luck" and "Syriana"..
Both of them hard-hitting and good.
So is that going to start a trend now?? ... I hope so.

before the snow..

took this shot outside my door 5 weeks ago..

when everything was golden and red.

before today's bleak and stark white.

--

------
The clouds are turnin' crimson
The leaves fall from the limbs an'
The branches cast their shadows over stone
Won't you meet me out in the moonlight alone?

The boulevards of cypress trees
The masquerades of birds and bees
The petals, pink and white, the wind has blown
Won't you meet me out in the moonlight alone?

The trailing moss and mystic glow
Purple blossoms soft as snow
My tears keep flowing to the sea
Doctor, lawyer, Indian chief
It takes a thief to catch a thief
For whom does the bell toll for, love? It tolls for you and me

My pulse is runnin' through my palm
The sharp hills are rising from
The yellow fields with twisted oaks that groan
Won't you meet me out in the moonlight alone?

-Bob Dylan

turkey day 2005

Here are some pictures from the Thanksgiving Dinner at Jake and Alenka's place.

T'was a really nice Thanksgiving... with amazing food.. turkey, goose, and believe it or not, our contribution.. momos. :).. that must be a first, huh?? And that dessert spread was unreal.

Spent 5 hours on a jigsaw puzzle after that. I mean, when one is so stuffed, what else can one do right? :)

white thanksgiving

24th November 2005

she's back..
cold cold beauty
reaching out with her freezing embrace
no release, no resisting, just surrender
cruelly faithful.
faithful.
